Schedule:  Monday-Friday 8am - 430pm 


Job Summary:


The Facilities Associate will be responsible for maintaining and/or coordinating with outside contractors the maintenance of the physical condition of the entire facility, including electrical and mechanical repairs and preventive maintenance on the facility and equipment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Coordinate all building repairs and upkeep including tenant leased space, common areas and building exterior.
  • Coordinate with property management on all repairs to the common space and issues relating to safety and security.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all equipment within the office (i.e. copiers, postage meters, security equipment, Alarms Systems (Burglar, HVAC, Security, Refrigeration,) etc.).
  • Changes out gas cylinders for labs as needed.
  • Oversees vending stock levels and dispenses vending refunds.
  • Responds to repair requests and personally repairs internally and/or externally through outside vendors.
  • Maintain working relationships with outside vendors to keep accounts current.
  • Gathers bids from vendors for approval of repair work to be done on facility.
  • Provide light interior and exterior building maintenance as needed.
  • Creates new hire security badges.
  • Dispenses Visitor’s and Contractor’s security badges.
  • Repairs Bio-med equipment as necessary (i.e. Stainers, microscope bulbs, etc.)
  • Maintains the DI water systems throughout the labs.
  • Completes minor plumbing repairs as needed (sink washers, minor leaks, etc.)
  • Fills in for Security when necessary.
  • Handles departmental administrative duties (logs, spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Develops, in conjunction with management, departmental policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the van pool vehicle maintenance.
  • Fills in for mailroom when needed.
  • Orders office supplies for Support Operations.
  • Assists with management of uniform service.
  • Helps with internal and external moves and relocations.
  • Vacuums freezers in lab areas to maintain integrity of systems.
  • Completes safety maintenance on showers and eyewashes weekly.
  • Maintains key inventory, keeping it updated and dispenses keys when needed.
  • Manages removal of bio-hazard waste from labs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education:


  • High school diploma or GED

  • 1-3 years building maintenance experience preferred

Physical & Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time

  • Ability to use fine motor skills to operate office equipment.

  • Ability to receive and comprehend instruction verbally and/or in writing

  • Ability to use logical reasoning for simple and complex problem solving
