Position is responsible for the coordination of product sourced in China through the validation process in Quest Diagnostics and then the total readiness of the supply chain post validation.  The position is critical to the operational deployment of quality consumable product and supply into the Quest Diagnostics supply chain.  The position will be based in the US, but will require extensive communications with the other value based sourcing team professionals based in China. The incumbent will engage senior most professionals (business and technical) and develop positions and reports as to the readiness of product to launch into the Quest Diagnostics supply chain.

This position reports to the Senior Program Manager – Value Based Sourcing


  • Manages newly sourced product introduction, schedules product validations, supply chain readiness plans, and new product roll out schedules.  Scope is the exit of product out of pre production through placement of product in the Quest Diagnostics supply chain

  • Coordinates, provides direction to, and/or liaises with procurement engineering, sourcing managers, the product validation team, and supply chain management to ensure supplier performance & deliverables are met for product entry into Quest’s supply chain.

  • Develops, manages, and/or ensures adherence to processes for new product introduction, qualification/validation and release to supplier production; including transfer procedures and volume-production plans to support products from the value based sourcing supplier set.

  • Ensures alignment of sourcing activities with testing/validation activities and the procurement process

  • Collaborates with and/or facilitates cross-functional collaboration with suppliers to assure value based sourcing program deliverables

  • Participates in the evaluation of suppliers including capability assessment to meet launch schedules and by participating in the selection process; as well as providing supplier reviews and measurement inputs

  • Participates in the identification and implementation of cost savings opportunities and meet assigned cost targets in the area of value based sourcing.

  • Participates in or may facilitate supplier reviews

  • Promotes cross-group collaboration/synergy and drives for best practices in new product launches


  • Undergraduate degree in supply chain, engineering or a technical discipline, or business.    

  • Demonstrated technical aptitude with a focus on supply chain modeling and optimization

  • 5 years of experience in Global Supply Chain Management/strategic sourcing.

  • High level of familiarity pertaining to sourcing in low cost geographies, particularly China.

  • Ability to influence and participate in cross functional teams, including a demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally (e.g., engineering; manufacturing; operations; etc.) at all organizational levels and/or with outside professionals.

  • Demonstrated project/program management; including project scheduling, resource allocations and management, risk management & analysis

  • Effective time/resource management and project management skills/capabilities

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint

  • Demonstrated experience in participating in a matrix global environment

  • Strong interpersonal / facilitation skills

  • A good written & verbal communicator

  • Solid process management skills

  • Highly motivated/results/metrics driven with demonstrated influencing skills

  • Six Sigma/Lean concepts knowledge and practical experience
