Position Description

This position manages Quest Diagnostics’ strategic sourcing activities for our Information Technology (IT) Portfolio. This critical role will assume responsibility for leading a team of category managers to source and manage our worldwide technology category portfolio. The Director will work collaboratively with the CIO team to set multi-year strategies, targets and align business and procurement priorities with the goal of achieving significant cost reductions, while maintaining/improving product quality and supplier service levels. This position will be responsible for effectively managing $300 million in annual Information Technology spend and will be a direct report to the Quest Diagnostics Chief Procurement Officer.  The position is based in Secaucus, NJ.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Establish project requirements for relevant categories working with internal stakeholders to develop appropriate Requirements resulting in Master Consulting Services, Software Licensing and Telecom Agreements

  • Provide thought leadership during the development and execution of long-term strategies related to the selection and management of third-party suppliers

  • Develop/refine sourcing strategy using industry analysis, vendor performance, and cost models supported by deep expertise of suppliers and industry

  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers of assigned categories. The terms of contracts include pricing, cost savings/reduction plans, service levels, payment terms, risk mitigation plans, quality terms, product development plans, regulatory compliances, etc.

  • Track forecasted vs. actual savings for the IT Portfolio and be responsible for communicating performance against these measures and their potential budgetary impact.

  • Lead Onshore/Offshore technology outsourcing project initiatives


    The successful candidate for Director, IT Portfolio will have the following attributes and/or experiences:

  • BA/BS in Supply Chain Management/Business/Engineering or related field required;  an MBA preferred
  • Successful 7-10 year track record in a global procurement organization
  • Deep industry knowledge and experience in specific spend category (Information Technology and Telecom) is critical.
  • Experience with cost analysis, including estimation and risk analysis
  • Present and advocate the sourcing case to a variety of audiences with self-confidence
  • Knowledge of Supply management strategies and tools
  • Passion for setting and meeting aggressive goals
  • Openness for new initiatives, fast learner, proactive
  • Ability to lead teams and build effective working relationships both internally and externally
  • Demonstrate Candor; ability to respectfully challenge senior leadership
  • Strong analytical capabilities and negotiation skills
  • Self-starter and independent worker
  • Experience with global technology sourcing initiatives
  • Have a deep understanding of the usage of Information Technology space including hardware, software, data center complex services and telecommunications contracting.
