Position Description

The Director of Business Development for Precision Medicine is responsible to maintain and grow existing Precision Medicine business. The position requires a self-starter with proven revenue-generating skills, strategic planning, and executing a multi-year business development strategy.

The position reports to the Director of Companion Diagnostics, and work location is flexible.

Responsibilities

  • Retain, extend, and acquire pharmaceutical and biotech partnerships through effective identification of opportunities and implementation of solutions

  • Develop a healthy pipeline of solid commercial opportunities to meet and exceed revenue goals

  • Keep abreast of diagnostics and personalized medicine developments (internal and external) in the relevant TAs that may impact and/or present an opportunity for added value

  • Utilize strong product, market knowledge and sales experience to manage complex sales and resolve customer questions and concerns

  • Strong business and financial acumen: ability to manage contracts and solutions as a “win-win” for both the client and Quest Diagnostics

  • Healthcare industry knowledge on trends and influences for our client base

  • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and how to tailor to our client solutions

  • Management of sales activity and tracking of key sales actions

  • Knowledge and experience across multiple technologies and modalities of diagnostics

 

Qualifications

The successful candidate for Director of Business Development for Precision Medicine will have the following attributes and/or experiences:

  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant sales experience, preferably in Companion Diagnostic and/or experience in Pharmaceutical BD/alliance management

  • BA with advanced degree preferred

  • CDx/Dx experience from a major diagnostics or pharmaceutical company is a plus

  • A sense of urgency to outperform in a highly competitive market space

  • Proven track record of developing compelling business cases

  • Knowledge of test sample journey, currently utilized diagnostic technologies preferred

  • Proven experience with a broad base of external customers including patients, prescribers, payers, providers

  • Ability to combine both scientific and commercial knowledge to meet customer needs

  • Ability to clearly and effectively articulate complex concepts

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

  • Occasional travel is required, estimated 30%
