Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Position Summary:

The Database Support Analyst is responsible for reviewing all database maintenance requests and working with technical and programming personnel in maintaining and updating technical department testing information.  The incumbent demonstrates the knowledge and experience needed to understand medical terminology and complex test build procedures and work with a minimum of work supervision.  The incumbent actively supports and complies with all company and departmental policies and procedures.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Submits/Approves Laboratory Information Systems database requests.
  • Translates and interprets specifications from technical department supervisors, managers, directors and medical personnel ensuring accuracy of information submitted to database department and integrity of test information communicated to clients, tested through various systems, and implemented in LIS.
  • Investigates and resolves problems from technical department supervisors, managers, directors and medical personnel with test build changes and test mapping.
  • Acts as liaison between lab services, laboratory technical and Test Database personnel to coordinate changes for new and improved testing and projects.
  • Provides quality control of test information in client communication drafts for accuracy prior to distribution.
  • Complies with all policies, standards and procedures for communication of database test changes and new tests.
  • Assists technical department supervisors, managers, directors and medical personnel when problems or concerns with test builds and changes occur.
  • Coordinates Best Practice Team changes from National Standard Database, or other directives, with internal technical staff.
  • Complies with the policies, guidelines, directives, and standards established by Quest Diagnostics management for use of the LIS databases.
  • Performs other related and ancillary duties inherent to the position or as directed by a competent authority.

Experience, Education, and Licensure:

  • Bachelor’s degree in laboratory or biological science with medical technology certification preferred and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a laboratory environment.  Database experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of technical laboratory processes. 
  • Leadership strengths, with the ability to influence all levels of organization. Excellent team facilitation/leadership skills. Teamwork/collaborative style.
  • Hands-on experience with PC database, word processing programs, Microsoft Word and Excel desirable.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple/detail-oriented tasks.
  • Ability to work independently, employing research skills and flexibility.
  • Greenbelt training and certification desirable.
